Risk-based thinking ensures that risks are identified, considered and controlled throughout the design and use of your Quality Management System (QMS).  Although the function of risk-based thinking is to manage risk at various critical stages, the true purpose of risk-based thinking is more than just creating a systematic, precautionary approach.  Instead, you should look at risk based thinking as a form of organisational knowledge.

What can this module help you achieve?

This module provides an overview of risk-based thinking and how this applies to ISO 9001.  By the end of the module you will have:

  • An understanding of the term ‘risk-based thinking’
  • A process for identifying and managing risk
  • An understanding of the ISO best practice process for supplier and contractor management
  • Hints and tips on building business value add relationships with suppliers and contractors
  • Shared examples of good practice
