Context and Policy

Module Information

Context of the Organisation makes up Clause 4 of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).  This clause requires you to determine the context of your organisation to include the needs and expectations of your interested parties, the scope of your management system and your processes.  As part of the requirements, you will need to consider both the internal and external issues that could impact on your operations and affect your ability to meet customer requirements and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

What can this module help you achieve?

Context and Policy provides an overview of Clause 4 of ISO 9001. By the end of the module you will have:

  • Identified who the ‘interested parties’ are in relation to ISO 9001 along with their needs and expectations

  • An understanding of how to identify, document, update and utilise information on the internal and external factors relevant to your business

  • Clarity on how to develop and communicate a Quality Policy which fully meets the requirements of ISO 9001

  • Shared examples of good practice
